The compost trommel screen is a mobile device for efficient screening of compost. The machine has a receiving chamber, whereby the material is dosed into the screening drum by means of a screw conveyor. After the receiving chamber, the material enters the screening drum, which is perforated with technological openings in a rectangular shape, through which the fine fraction of the compost is screened.
Inside the drum is a spiral that transports the compost to the outlet end of the drum using the principle of a screw conveyor. For additional distribution of the compost – and therefore better screening – steel shovels are fitted around the circumference of the drum between the spirals. The fine fraction falls onto a longitudinal belt conveyor below the screen, while the coarse fraction, which does not pass through the screen perforation, falls onto a cross conveyor after the screen. The drum is easily interchangeable, allowing different fraction sizes to be screened with the same machine.
